Malawi

Malawi ranks among the world's least developed countries. 90% of the population’s economy is agricultural, which is rapidly being affected by major environmental difficulties like deforestation and land degradation.

Another tragic condition is the high incidence of AIDS, with more cases per capita than any other nation, resulting in lower life expectancy, higher death rates and increased infant mortality. Other diseases such as diarrhea, hepatitis A, typhoid fever, and malaria are also common as a result of unclean food and water.

We tackle these issues in Malawi assisting residents through our approach which brings long-term solutions to provide food supplies, clean water, health care, schools, road construction, farming and income resources.

Projects include:

  • Maintaining five goat projects in four communities, benefitting 4,200 people.
  • Building four new schools, giving 2,800 more children access to an education.
  • Constructing a maize mill to benefit 1,300 people, increasing crop yields by 45%.
  • Constructing wells for drinking water – 12 wells reduced water-borne disease by 60% in five communities.
  • A clinic in Zimwanda for children under five, giving children access to malaria medicines.
  • Extensive care for children orphaned by AIDS.
  • Additional income projects in Kosoti Phiri and others include poultry and vegetable production, pig-raising and fishponds.
