Dennis Labayen, MD

Dr. Dennis R. Labayen, Director of Field Operations for Outreach International since 1999, is one of the primary intellectual articulators of its philosophy and methodology. He has worked in participatory development and community health programs in poor communities since 1973. From 1981-1985, he worked as Outreach International’s field director for the Philippines, then took over field management operations in Asia and Africa in 1986. Dennis came to Outreach International from the International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR), a world-renowned research institute and development NGO based in Cavite, Philippines, where he had worked as a rural community health and development specialist. Dr. Labayen is a graduate of University of Philippines School of Medicine.

At Outreach International, he also conducts special courses in Participatory Human Development for friends, donors and partners of Outreach International around the world.
